Google has buffed its fact-checking efforts by including fact checking results in Google searches. For example, the myth debunker Snopes gets a special call out whenever certain search terms are googled. Other fact-checking websites are eligible for the call out as well – such as PolitiFact. Search results can display multiple fact-checking shout outs. However, conflicting conclusions can occasionally pop up so it is up to the user to decide which conclusion is true. Google also cautions readers to be weary of fact-checking claims to legitimacy themselves. Finally, Google says its top secret algorithm will have the final say on which facts to fact check and which fact checking site to promote.
