There are many new alterations when it comes to the service area business listings provided by Google. You are now allowed to clear your address so that no public address appears to visitors. Unfortunately, Google will still have access to your private address no matter what, and your ranking will remain the same as it is still going to be based on addresses and what is in the closest proximity to the inquirer. It is helpful, however, to know that you no longer have to display your exact address for everyone to see.
- The Local search community have been asking lots of questions about Google’s recent changes for the service area businesses especially after Google announced those changes earlier this year.
- Now businesses have the option to just clear their addresses and not make their addresses show in maps rather than select a checkbox stating their services.
- When one has cleared his business address he should not try to add it back. If you want to add it back, it will have to be reverified.
“Your ranking is still based on the address used for verification not what you put in the service area. It has been this way for a very long time and we all hope Google will change this at some point.”
