One of the best ways to network effectively is to build relationships before an event. Reach out to a selected handful of participants and let them know you’ll be attending. Introduce yourself and let them know that you’re looking forward to meeting them. When you arrive, you’ll have people approaching you and asking for your time, making it much easier on you! Bringing a friend or co-worker to an event can also help take the pressure off. The person or people accompanying you can introduce you to their contacts. Finally, you can always be on the lookout for other people who look uncomfortable. Your fellow introverts are just waiting for someone else to approach them, and since you know how that feels you can go up to these people and strike up a conversation about it!
