When you think of innovators, your mind might jump to the likes of Steve Jobs and Elon Musk. In reality, though, anybody can be an innovator. Whether you’re in a large company or growing your own small business, there are always ways to innovate. However, there are many misconceptions about innovation that might be holding you back from having the next great idea.
For example, many believe that innovation can’t exist within a large, well-established company. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. The key is to find people who want to break through and shine in the company and connect them. Large companies can’t depend on acquisition for innovation, so you can be the one to make it happen from within! Too many people believe that innovation is driven from the top down, but in reality most comes from the bottom up. It’s the people dealing with customers every day, getting to know what their real needs are, that know what it takes to adapt and grow in a way that will benefit both customers and the company. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that innovations must be perfected before they’re rolled out, either. It’s okay to test your ideas in real environments in order to learn!
