Did you make a New Year’s resolution this year? Maybe you resolved to be more productive in 2016? If so, now is the time to cut as much dead weight from your business life as possible. The best part of doing this is that it doesn’t require active, ongoing work like most New Year’s resolutions. All you have to do is let go of a few distractions, and watch your productivity soar!
First, turn to your social media accounts. Sites like Twitter and LinkedIn can be valuable workplace and marketing tools, but you might be carrying a ton of dead weight on these sites. Do you really need to follow and interact with those who don’t add value to your social media stream? Absolutely not. Cut them loose! For that matter, if you have social media profiles that you’ve abandoned or use only rarely, get rid of those, too. Turning to your mobile devices, think about how many social messaging apps you have. Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, Slack, iMessage, and more. How many do you really need? Having this many ways for everyone in your life to reach you is inviting distraction into your life in a way you don’t need. What do you plan to cut loose in 2016?
