You can now play the podcasts that come up when you search on Google directly in your search results. Which podcasts Google shows you will depend on Google’s analysis of what is discussed within a podcast. This analysis is directly enabled by Google’s project to automatically transcribe podcasts in order to make the searchable within the Google Podcasts app. On a related note, Google will soon also allow podcast publishers to designate where their podcasts can be played.
- Google now displays podcasts playable audio as results to user searches for specific keywords.
- Google is automatically transcribing podcasts to make them searchable in its app.
- Google lets creators and publishers determine which podcasts are available free online, to protect subscription-based creators.
“Playable podcast episodes will be displayed in addition to regular search results when users are specifically searching for podcasts.”
