Google My Business drops ability to edit business description field

Last updated: September 2, 2016 By Braintrust

It has recently been announced that companies that put their profile information on Google can now edit their information in Google Plus instead of Google My Business. This makes it easier for business owners to edit their information online and this change occurred to ensure that companies did not fill their description with spam words.

Key Takeaways:

  • Google has removed the ability for businesses to edit their introduction/description field in the Google My Business portal.
  • Some say this was removed because businesses used it to stuff spam and keywords in the field
  • Google said you can edit it in Google+.

“Google has removed the ability for businesses to edit their introduction/description field in the Google My Business portal.”
