Late summer is a tough time to be a small business owner. The weather is hot, the sun is out, and all anybody wants to do is kick back with a cold drink or heat the beach. It can be hard to keep yourself and your employees motivated during these long days. How can you keep everyone engaged until autumn?
One way is to let your employees have a little more fun on Fridays. More and more businesses are making use of Summer Fridays, allowing their employees to go home early for the weekend. Some offices close at 1 PM and others at 3 PM, letting people get home to their families and fit in a little extra free time. Other companies are instituting work-from-home Fridays, which can also boost productivity provided you have a way to track everyone’s progress. You can also create a little summer atmosphere in the office by allowing everyone to dress in business casual or by bringing some summery treats like watermelon or lemonade into the office. Throwing an event like a company picnic or retreat can also give everyone the refresher they need to make it through the dog days of summer.
