Many entrepreneurs idolize the most successful businessmen in the world; people like Mark Cuban and Steve Jobs. They want to understand how such a successful person thinks. But thinking is only part of a successful entrepreneur’s toolkit. The key to success is much more about doing than it is about dreaming. Of course, it all starts with having the mindset of a winner.
What is that mindset? First of all, you have to have the drive to be the best. If you’re not the best, that means that someone else is. If you’re just one in a sea of people all doing things the same way, you’ll never stand out. You have to find out how to take the next step, and you have to be patient about it. True winners know that success is a marathon, not a sprint. If you can’t stick with your goals over the long haul, you’ll never make it. You also have to be willing to listen to others while still trusting your own gut. When you boil it down, success is really all about making the right decisions. If you surround yourself with the best people, you’ll have a great chance, but in the end it will come down to your decisions. You have to be able to trust your gut.
