The human brain can process images in just 13 milliseconds, so it’s no wonder that marketers are using image-based content to drive their social media campaigns. With the growth of so many image-based social networks like Instagram, Pinterest, Vine, and Tumblr, you can expect listening and analytics of these visual platforms to become a priority for many companies in 2015.

This will affect businesses in a number of ways. For example, with Pinterest and Instagram finally introducing advertising in order to increase monetization, you can expect to see major brands diverting advertising funds from more traditional channels like television into image-based social networks. With more money being spent here, there’s a greater need for analytics and measurement. Visual listening will also help companies to keep track of their images, ensuring that they are not being misused by third parties and thereby protecting their brands. It will also help businesses learn more about the moments in which branded images are used in relation to other content. You can see how improving analytics on marketing for image-based social media networks will be important in the year to come.
