Creating a website seems like a daunting proposition, but with the right plan it doesn’t have to be. You just have to sit down and think through the steps you need to take to create the site of your dreams. Here’s what should be on that list.
First, you must determine the purpose of your site. Are you selling items directly from the site? Is it mainly informational? Will it keep customers up to date on what’s going on with your business? Once you figure out what you want to do with it, you can decide on a domain name and start building. Begin by figuring out which building blocks need to go in first. Sure, you want social share buttons and shiny graphics, but what needs to go in first? How many website pages do you need? How much site storage will you need? Are you using a lot of video? At this point, you will probably know if you want to use a professional service or just do it all yourself. There’s a lot of work that goes into building a quality site, but it doesn’t have to overwhelm if you take it one step at a time!
