Small Business Website Blunders

These days, most new customers are likely going to discover your small business through your website. Unfortunately, just having a website isn’t going to be enough. Your site has to be optimized for search engines so people can find it and it must also make a great first impression on users. Many small business websites fall into the same traps over and over.

For example, many small business owners hire web designers to build flashy sites overloaded with graphics and video. That can be a mistake, as it often harms your chances of being found with Google. If you don’t have enough text, you won’t rank highly in search engines. Being mobile-friendly is also a must for any business’s website. Another common mistake is leaving out contact information. You want customers to call you after visiting your site, so make sure that it’s easy to find contact information from the moment they land on your page. Finally, too many small businesses fail to properly use customer reviews. Your site should not only showcase them, but encourage visitors to leave their own, too!
