Sure, Silicon Valley gets most of the attention these days. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of other cities all over the country that are equally conducive to launching a startup. While Silicon Valley might have a ton of resources, it’s also very expensive and over-saturated. One of the following cities might be a better choice to build your startup’s foundation.

Austin, Texas is fast becoming one of the most acclaimed cities in America, and for good reason. It’s diverse, growing quickly, and has become a hub for innovation. Austin has a very open and collaborative business climate, as well as a diverse group of experienced leaders who want to be mentors to the next generation. Nashville, Tennessee might not be at the top of your mind when you think of great entrepreneurial cities, but it’s fast becoming one of the best cities for technology in the Southeast. With Google Fiber on the way to the city, many think Nashville is about to become a breakthrough city for entrepreneurs. Finally, Boulder, Colorado has the highest startup density in the country at six times the national average. It’s one of the wealthiest and most active startup cities west of the Mississippi River.
