Last week in Las Vegas, the electronics industry gathered to show off their latest tech toys. While many of them aren’t worth getting too excited over (a TV that’s half a millimeter thinner?), there are a few that stand out and promise to change the way we live and do business.
HTC, for example, is hopping on the virtual reality bandwagon in a very innovative way: its Vive Chaperone technology not only allows you to move around the room, but will show you when you get too close to a wall or the couch. This means that virtual reality user interfaces are evolving much faster than we thought they could. On a more practical note, wireless charging has long been a tech demo at CES, but a company called Energous might be about to make it practical for consumers. If it can be refined, you might never again need to take off your Apple Watch to charge it! And of course, any discussion of CES 2016 wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Ehang 182, a drone capable of ferrying human passengers distances of up to ten miles on a single charge.
