We might all shake our heads at executives who fail to confront the problems facing their companies, but equally bad are those who respond with kneejerk reactions because they don’t want to address the underlying issues of a problem. Rather than firing an employee who is underperforming, for example, why not try to communicate with them and find the root cause? Another key thing to avoid if you hope to achieve success is resting on your laurels. Just because you’ve had initial success doesn’t mean that success will continue. Success comes from delivering products and services that solve problems in innovative ways – and you have to keep innovating if you hope to keep up in your marketplace. Just because you think that your company is at the top of its game doesn’t mean that the market feels the same way!
