So you’ve just quit your job to strike out on your own as a solo entrepreneur. The first few days will be exciting, liberating, and downright terrifying. What should you be doing in the early going to set yourself up for greater success down the line?
First, get yourself a great business card. You can even put Founder, CEO, or President on it if you think it will impress potential clients. If you want to save time when marketers call you, you can pretend to be your own assistant. Just politely tell unwanted callers that you’re not in right now, and no one will be the wiser. Of course, on the very first day you should make sure that you have a comfortable workspace that promotes productivity. A desk, a comfy chair, and whatever other creature comforts you need will all help you get more work done. Of course, working from home will bring its own set of distractions, and you’ll have to learn to work around them. One way to keep yourself focused is to get outside and go for a walk once or twice a day. Fresh air will help clear your head!
